Data protection is very important to us. This data protection declaration informs you about the type, scope and purpose of the collection and use of personal data via our website in accordance with the German Data Protection Ordinance (DSGVO).
Access data / server log files
We automatically collect and store in your server log files information that your browser transmits to us. These are
- browser type/version,
- the operating system used,
- referrer URL (the previously visited page),
- the host name of the accessing computer (IP address),
- the time of the server request,
- the amount of data transmitted and
- the message whether the retrieval was successful.
This data will not be passed on to third parties. The use of all offered services is permitted – if and so far technically possible and reasonable – without specification of any personal data or under specification of anonymized data or an alias. Since data transmission on the Internet (e.g. communication by e-mail) can be subject to security gaps, it is not possible to protect data completely from access by third parties.
Server log files are deleted after one month.
Dealing with personal data
Personal data is information that can be traced back to help to identy a person. This includes the name, e-mail address or telephone number. But also data about preferences, hobbies, memberships or which websites were viewed by someone count as personal data. We only collect, use and pass on personal data if this is permitted by law or if you as a user agree to the collection of data.
Getting in touch with us
When you contact us (e.g. via contact form or e-mail) your details will be stored for the purpose of processing the enquiry and in the event that follow-up questions arise.
Comments and Contributions
If you leave comments on the blog or other posts on the site, your IP addresses will be stored for 7 days. This is done for our security if someone writes illegal content (insults, forbidden political propaganda, etc.) in comments and posts. In this case, we ourselves may be prosecuted for the comment or post and therefore we are interested in the identity of the author.
Integration of third-party services and content
We may include third-party content within our website, such as YouTube videos, Google Maps maps, RSS feeds, graphics from other websites or downloads. This always presupposes that the providers of this content (hereinafter referred to as “third-party providers”) determine your IP address. Without your IP address, the third party content providers will not be able to send the content to your browser. The IP address is therefore required for the presentation of this content. We make every effort to use only those contents whose respective providers only use the IP address to deliver the contents. However, we have no influence on whether the third party providers store the IP address for statistical purposes, for example. As far as this is known to us, we will inform you about it.
We use Google Analytics, a web analysis service provided by Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics also uses “cookies”. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website will generally be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. Google is certified under the Privacy Shield Agreement and thus offers a guarantee of compliance with European data protection law (https://www.privacyshield.gov/participant?id=a2zt000000001L5AAI&status=Active).
We use Google Analytics only with IP anonymization enabled. This means that your IP address will be truncated by Google within member states of the European Union or other signatory states to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address transmitted to a Google server in the USA and truncated there. On our behalf, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity and to provide other services to us relating to website activity and internet usage.
The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be aggregated with other data held by Google. You can also prevent Google from collecting the data generated by the cookie and related to your use of the website (including your IP address) as well as Google from processing this data by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available under the following link https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de.

Our newsletter is sent via “MailChimp”, a newsletter distribution platform of the US provider Rocket Science Group, LLC, 675 Ponce De Leon Ave NE #5000, Atlanta, GA 30308, USA.
To subscribe to our newsletter, it is sufficient to enter your first and last name next to your e-mail address. This information is used to personalize the newsletter. They are stored on the MailChimp servers in the USA. MailChimp uses this information to send and evaluate the newsletter on our behalf.
Our newsletters contain a so-called “web-beacon”, i.e. a pixel-sized file that is retrieved from the MailChimp server when the newsletter is opened. Technical information, such as information about the browser, your system and your IP address, is collected as part of this retrieval process. The statistical surveys also include determining whether the newsletters are opened, when they are opened and which links are clicked. For technical reasons, this information can be allocated to the individual newsletter recipients, but it is neither our nor MailChimp’s aim to monitor individual users. The evaluations serve to recognize the reading habits of our users and to adapt our contents to them or to send different contents according to the interests of our users. MailChimp can use the evaluations to optimize its own services, but will not use the data of our newsletter recipients to write to them or pass them on to third parties.
There are cases in which we direct newsletter recipients to the MailChimp websites, e.g. for online retrieval of a newsletter or for the subsequent correction of transmitted e-mail addresses. Cookies are used on the MailChimp websites and personal data is processed by MailChimp. We have no influence on this data collection and trust in the reliability and IT and data security of MailChimp.
MailChimp is certified under the US-EU data protection agreement „Privacy Shield“ and is therefore committed to complying with EU data protection regulations. In addition, we have concluded a „Data-Processing-Agreement“. This is a contract in which MailChimp undertakes to protect the data of our users, to process it on our behalf in accordance with their data protection regulations and, in particular, not to pass it on to third parties. You will find the Rocket Science Group’s data protection declaration at http://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/.
You can revoke your consent to the storage of data, e-mail address and their use to send the newsletter at any time. The revocation can be made via a link in a newsletter itself or by notifying us. If you have not subscribed to any newsletters or e-mail services, no data will be transmitted.
Within our online offering and in particular in the blog we use Gravatar, a service from Automattic, Inc. 132 Hawthorne Street San Francisco, CA 94107, USA.
Gravatar is a service where users can register and store profile pictures and their e-mail addresses. If users leave contributions or comments with the respective e-mail address on other online presences (especially in blogs), their profile pictures can be displayed next to the contributions or comments. For this purpose, the e-mail address provided by the users is encrypted and transmitted to Gravatar for the purpose of checking whether a profile is stored for it.
Gravatar is used on the basis of our legitimate interests within the meaning of Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f) DSGVO, since with the help of Gravatar we offer authors of contributions and comments the opportunity to personalise their contributions with a profile picture. Automattic is certified under the Privacy Shield Agreement and thus offers a guarantee of compliance with European data protection law (https://www.privacyshield.gov/participant?id=a2zt0000000CbqcAAC&status=Active).
If users do not want a user image linked to their e-mail address to appear in the comments at Gravatar, they should use an e-mail address which is not stored at Gravatar for commenting. We would also like to point out that it is also possible to use an anonymous e-mail address or no e-mail address at all if users do not wish their own e-mail address to be sent to Gravatar. Users can completely prevent the transmission of data by not using our comment system.
We use various social networks – currently Twitter and LinkedIN – to exchange information with customers and prospects. When calling up the respective networks and platforms, the terms and conditions and data processing guidelines of the respective operators apply.
Revocation, Amendments, Corrections and Updates
You have the right, upon request and free of charge, to obtain information about the personal data stored about you. In addition, you have the right to have incorrect data corrected, your personal data blocked or deleted, provided that this is not contrary to any legal obligation to retain such data. You also have the right to revoke your consent with effect for the future.
Right to Information
Your trust is important to us. Therefore we are happy to answer your questions regarding the processing of your personal data. If necessary, please write to email@example.com and receive information about your data stored by us.
